Top Big-Game Fisherwoman

Miss Kura Beale, of Te Puia, who over the past four years has claimed several New Zealand and world big game fishing records, pictured trying her hand at the sport from the vessel, Sou' East, which is at present fishing from Gisborne at the Ariel Reef grounds off the coast from Tatapouri.

Miss Beale is the only New Zoalander to have held two world big game records at once, that of a 4321b Blue Marlin, and the women's all-tackle, which still stands. She was also the 1959 and 1960 ladies' champion of the Bay of Island Swordfish Club.
