Successful Show Jumpers Return

The three Gisborne horses which were part of the five-horse N.Z. show jumping team which toured Australia recently with considerable success, returned home last month.

The horses, Saba Sam, owned and ridden by Graham Hansen, Tide, by Bruce Hansen, and Syndicate, by Charlie Matthews, acquitted themselves extremely well during their two months abroad, Saba Sam claiming more victories than any other competitor in the show jumping circuit. The team also won the Interdominion Teams Cup for competition between the two countries.

Two other Gisbornites travelled with the team: its manager, Mr Brian Burke, and groom, Mr Randal Coleman.
