Magnificent Gowns of the Year

Thirteen magnificent ballroom gowns, the entries in the fifth annual "Gown of the Year" contest, were elegantly modelled before capacity houses in the War Memorial Hall recently, when Tam Cochrane's fashion show visited Gisborne.

Supporting the contest was a complete parade of spring fashions, ranging from beach wear to high-fashion designs.

Gisborne had a special interest in the show this year, as one of the six charming mannequins, Margaret Whitehead, is a local girl. Also, as in previous years, designer Maida Knight had an entry in the Gown of the Year contest.
