The six placegetters in the Gisborne Aero Club's annual flying scholarship pictured with the club president, Mr Ted Mitchell, and instructor, Mr Peter Banks. The scholarship entitles the first placegetter to free flying and instruction to private pilot standard; second place to solo stage, and the others to two hours' flying.

Max Davis, son of Mr and Mrs M. B. Davis, Fox Street, who was selected for the North Island under 12 soccer team for the second consecutive year, while playing for P.B. at Auckland. Max, who formerly lived in Wellington, has been in Gisborne for two years.

Mr Jack Griffin, president of the Midway Surf Life Saving Club, adjusts a life membership blazer on club stalwart Mr Ken Morse, after having presented it to him in recognition of the untiring service he has given his club, and surfing in the district in general, over many years.
