Learning Their Road Rules

Primary school children in the Gisborne district are at present learning their road rules and traffic sense in a practical and effective way with the use of a Shell traffic trainer.....a model town of four blocks complete with pedal cars, bicycles, and footpaths.

Supervising the children in their activities is traffic instructor L. N. Hutchison. Senior pupils of the schools are given the responsibility of controlling the younger ones, a task they perform with conscientious efficiency.

The pictures on these pages were taken when a demonstration of the trainer was being given at Kaiti School for the benefit of parents.
