Wairoa-Gisborne Harrier Relay
Five teams, of nine runners each, took part in the first competitive Wairoa to Gisborne harrier relay race, which was run on a handicap basis.
Running legs of from nine to five miles, members of the winning team, Gisborne B, covered the 65 mile distance in just over seven hours, with Whakatane A taking the fastest time of 6hr 7min.
