Boys' High School Heads

The retirement of Mr A. J. Gray as rector of the Gisborne Boys' High school, after 12 years in that office, occasioned much regret on the part of past and present pupils. At a number of farewell functions, tributes were paid with evident sincerity to Mr Gray's outstanding service to the school through a changing and difficult period. He is photographed here with his successor, Mr G. M. Simpson, M.A., B.Com., Dip. Ed., of Auckland, who will take up his new appointment on January 1. He is aged 39, married, with two children.

Mr Simpson has taught at Pahiatua District High School, King's College, Auckland, Kaeo District High School, and at Orewa District High School. At his present school, Westlake Boys' High School, Takapuna, he is head of the commercial and history departments.
