New Zealand Ballet Company

Early last month, Gisborne school children had the opportunity to see ballet at its best.

The N.Z. Ballet Touring Company played at the Opera House two days running. For the benefit of schools, the shows were staged both in the mornings and afternoons. Unfortunately, the High Schools were in the midst of half-yearly exams, and unable to attend. Other schools were just not allowed to go. It was a pity, as they would have enjoyed it. The youthful company gave first-class professional performances. The fact that they danced to taped music in no way lessened the brilliance of their art.

The admission fee of 1/6 per child was low enough to have overcrowded the Opera House at every performance.
