St. John Ambulance Parade

The annual church parade of the St. John Ambulance Association took place on a recent Sunday in cold showery weather.

After forming up in lower Bright Street, the parade was forced to take cover whan a heavy shower fell suddenly.

After reforming, they ware led by the band of the Salvation Army, up Bright Street to Gladstone Road and along to Derby Street where they turned into Holy Trinity. The driver of the ambulance used in the parade had to stay in the driving seat, keeping in touch with his headquarters in case of need. Visiting dignitaries of the Order wore long black capes in the style of the early crusaders who first founded the Order in Jerusalem.
