An evening was held by the Gisborne St. John Ambulance Association to farewell the retiring commissioner of the H.B.-P.B. district, Mr H. Bardon, of Hastings. At the function, a presentation was made to Mr and Mra A. Freabairn, to celebrate their .golden wedding anniversary. Mr Freebairn has been a member of the local association since its foundation in 1925 and was for many years sole driver of the ambulance, During this period, his wife attended to the telephone switchboard.
