Ballroom Dancing Championships

A packed Army Hall gave some Indication of the enthusiastic interest in ballroom dancing when the East Coast Championships were held here last month. Warm weather made conditions rather trying for the contestants, some of whom came from as far afield as Auckland. Nevertheless, extremely graceful dancing of an intricate nature was rendered by the participants. To see this type of dancing as done by experts is to understand how it was named "the light fantastic".
