A giant kumara, 12 inches long and weighing 2 lb 12¼ oz, which was grown by Mr Bob Jackson, Muir Street.

Mrs B. Morice, of Opotiki, sent us this picture of a freak lily which was grown by her mother, Mrs Scott Abbot, 37 years ago, which she claims is unrivalled for its size and quantity. The lily had 288 blooms on a 14 - inch circumference, five foot high, stem. The circumference of the flower head was 4 ft 6 in.
