Records Shattered At Boys High Swimming

Twelve records went by the board at the Gisborne Boys' High School's annual swimming sports, which were held in perfect conditions at the McRae Baths recently.

Top record breaker was the intermediate champion Robert Kerr, who lowered six times, with his runner-up, Robert Powell, junior champion Jim Westwood, & breaststroker Reid Fletcher, all taking two each.

The senior championship was won by Nicky Smith, with Terry Byrne second, and R. Hanna third.

An "imported team of divers from the South Island" added a touch of humour to the programme with their crazy antics.

Billed as a "triple somersault", this trio of Mr R. Swindell (teacher), Robert Kerr, and Michael McCredie, certainly raised a laugh, and a splash, when they tumbled off the three-metre board.
