Spirited Benefit Golfers

Members of the Poverty Bay Ladies' Golf Club raised £94 for the Heni Materoa Children's Home when they held their annual benefit day tournament recently.

As a finale for the day, a golf ball (substituting for the traditional egg) and spoon race was held, which proved highly amusing for competitors and spectators alike. Pictured below is the finish of the final, with Mrs R. A. Dickson (right) narrowly beating Mrs B. G. Kemp across the finish line, to win the event. Giving them spirited encouragement at left is Mrs H. G. Kemp.
