"Mrs New Zealand" Farewelled

"Mrs New Zealand 1962", Mrs Joan Coates, of Stout Street, Gisbourne, accompanied by her husband, Dr Jim Coates, de-parted by air from Darton Field recently on the first leg of their two-weeks' prize trip to the Northern Pacific Coast of America.

A good crowd of women folk turned out to wish them "bon voyage" on their trip, which includes a visit to the Seattle World Fair.

Mrs Coates bids farewell to the assembled well-wishers, as she leaves the terminal building. Following her are her husband, and Mr Harry Hall of Station 2XG staff.

Awaiting the departure of their plane, Dr and Mrs Coates chat with NAC branch manager Colin Bell, and their pilot, Captain Dave Barnston.
