"Gown of the Year" Contest

The 1962 fourth New Zealand "Gown of the Year" contest, along: with a parade of spring fashions, was presented to Gisborne audiences in the War Memorial Hall recently, by fashion promoter Tarn Cochrane, of Auckland.

The fourteen extravagant gowns, entered by top designers from throughout the country, one of whom was Gisborne's Maida Knight, were modelled by the parade's five glamorous mannequins, after which a popular vote was taken.
