Last month a giant lily grown by Mr H. Conway at his home in Salisbury Road reached full flower. Eleven feet high, the plant carried 11 blooms each a foot long. Of the species lilium Formosanum, it can usually be persuaded to grow to about 6ft in this country. The picture above, taken by Mr Conway, who is horticultural adviser to the Maori Affairs Department here, shows the top portion of the plant.
