Past and Present

No very marked changes are to be seen with the passage of 49 years in this comparison of the scene at the unveiling of the Captain Cook memorial at the Kaiti beach, on Oct. 8, 1906, with the same view as seen today. In the older photograph a number of dignitaries are drawn up on the steps of the monument, flanked by representatives of the army and navy.
