First Prize this month goes to this fine study (above) of the Taruheru River at sunset, from just below the Botanical Gardens bridge. It was submitted by Mr M. J. Waugh, 32 Derby Street, and wins a year's subscription to "Photo News".

Cook's Cove, near Tolaga Bay, which has strong associations with the famous navigator's first calls on New Zealand soil, and which will be visited by a Gisborne party on November 27 under the auspices of the Physical Welfare Branch and the Y.M.C.A. Picture sent in by Mrs A. J. Mcintosh, Mangatai Station, Whatatutu.

The Rere Palls make an impressive sight in this photograph sent in by Margaret Chiplin, of Manutuke. She writes that many people do not know of the existence of these falls, which are only 30 miles from Gisborne and rightby the roadside, and she commends the drive there as a most attractive one, and the place itself as most suitable for picnics.
