Those Bars

"I'm not a killjoy but I would like to see some of the play equipment at Tahuna Beach dismantled," writes "Mother". "I refer to the two sets of bars on which children can walk or swing. My seven-year-old daughter slipped from the low bar when walking on it recently and hurt herself and I was told by an onlooker that serious injuries were suffered by a small boy on the same bar a while ago. I hear that the Health Department is perturbed at the injury this type of equipment can cause."

We referred this letter to Dr J. S. Roxburgh, Medical Officer of Health, who said that although the Department was not "perturbed" about the equipment, he would look into the matter. Incidentally, as we took this pic the small boy fell and received a bump from the bar, although not a serious one.
