Life Members No l: Cecil Withers

×

Cecil Withers has been associated with cricket since 1901 when he played as a boy in Christchurch. In the intervening 65 years, he has represented many sub-unions, particularly in the Canterbury district, and, since coming to Nelson in 1941, he has held every executive post on the Nelson Cricket Association. At the moment he is the association's sole life member. Although Cecil was most reticent when talking facts and figures, it was obvious that he was a batsman of no small calibre. But, he said, it was his years on the association executive that he really enjoyed. Incidentally, he is also a life member of the Centennial Rubber Bowling Club.
