Golden Fleeco Contest

Would you believe where We photographed the shorn sheep pictured? In a station shearing shed?.....over at the Freezing Works? Perhaps you would never guess, but the picture was actually taken on the stage of the Opera House, and the occasion was the Golden Fleeco district shearing finals.

The result in the open section was a win for the Te Karaka team with Stewart Symon and Graham Baty as shearers, and Graham Boyd and Mrs Whare Edwards as fleecos.

The contests were watched by a packed audience, which also enjoyed a fashion parade staged by Lucy May Frocks.
