Beach Races

The Poverty Bay Polo Club's third beach race meeting was an outstanding success. Held on Boxing Day, in brilliant sunshine, the races drew a record crowd to the picturesque Kaiaua Beach five miles north of Tolaga Bay.

The beach was in excellent order and many an exciting race was seen as the horses came pounding across the hard sand with the roaring surf on one side and the colourful crowd on the other; some of them barracking madly, others watching intently, and others quietly tearing up their small pieces of paper.
