A stroll around the
CRICKET
at Harry Barker Reserve

The 1995/96 Cricket season has been dogged by inclement weather forcing cancellations of most Representative fixtures and restricting the local competitions. But cricketers are a patient lot taking advantage of any chance to play the game. At any time half the players are available for a chat and yet they are still aware of the playing situation. It's a game for optimists. Each ball bowled is different and batsman feel that each innings is a potential century. All know that it is very much a team game.

Boys High's Mark Jefferson dives for the last ball of the innings. This "never say die" attitude is the trademark of all good players. Mark missed this catch and spent the rest of the afternoon in the middle, making runs, in his last match of the season in Gisborne.
