SCHOLASTIC SURFERS

A select group of Gisborne surfers are in preparation for the Scholastic Surf Champs to be held in Westport early in April. Sonia Stevenson is coaching the team with swimming, running, weights and surfing sessions to maximize their potential.

NOVICE JET SKI CHAMP

Duane Barber with a lot of help from CGM Motorcycles, Gisborne Engineering, Bel Ray and Barber Distributors (his sponsors) was able to take out the National Jet Ski Title in the Novice Class riding his new Kawasaki 750 Sxi. Duane competed in only 4 of the 5 events (due to work commitments) He placed 3rd in Rd 2 (his 1st race) in Hawkes Bay, 1st at The Mount, 3rd in Wellington and 2nd in Rd 5 in Auckland. He is looking forward to the NZ Championships to be held at Mercer, Auckland at Easter.

Te Tairawhiti Men's and Women's Over 35 Touch Teams that travelled to Invercargill to compete in the Master's Touch Tournament:

MCDONALDS YOUNG WRITER OF THE MONTH

The December winner of the McDonalds Young Writer of the Month was Krystle Kelly of Gisborne Intermediate with Don Carlton local McDonalds owner/operator.

NATIONAL TOUCH SQUAD

Two Te Tairawhiti ladies were selected for the N Z Masters Mixed Touch Team when they attended the National Touch Masters Tournament in Invercargill. Final selection of the Team will be announced at the end of the season. If selected they will be playing in the World Cup in Australia during the 1996-97 season.
