GISBORNE CIVIC BAND
VARIETY CONCERT

A musical evening sprinkled with high drama and good humour was preformed in the War Memorial Theatre with proceeds to St John's Ambulance. The Gisborne Civic Band with the Whakatane Citizens Band formed the core of the entertainment. The Gisborne Choral Society, conducted by Gavin Maclean, filled the hall with their popular musicals. Doug Walsh revived the humour of Billy T. James. The Gisborne Highland Pipe Band formed a circle to play their medley and marches. Singer, Tom Oates, held the audience with his magic spell. Two officers of the law injected discipline upon the bands. A moment of solemnity was created when representatives of the Armed Forces reminded that 1995 is the 50th Anniversary of the War's end.
