Mrs Rosie Pearce celebrated her 100th Birthday early in September 1995. Rosie Pearce was born in Gisborne and is the great grandaughter of Nanny Tarr (an early pioneer of the district). Rosie lived here for 91 years being brought up on a farm in the Ormond, Opoutama, Toa Toa & Tareheru areas. In the past Rosie was a keen indoor bowler, a card player, a Life Member of Senior Citizens & drove her own car up until she was 90 years of age. She has 2 children: Ray Pearce & Doris Shipp with 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
