The section winners of the JAB Rugby Colouring Competition were presented with their Air New Zealand Mystery Bag prizes by Brett Papworth Manager of Air NZ Gisborne (left) & Rugby Junior Deveopment officer Eric Hannah. Leonie Haerewa a S4 Elgin artist won the 8-10 yrs section and Ben dodgshun a S4 Makauri pupil won the 11-14 yrs section. Anna Wiiliams won the 5-7 yrs section (absent for the photo)

3 Camellias were planted in the garden beside the entrance to the Gisborne District Council's main entrance in Fitzherbert Street. They were presented to the GDC by the Gisborne East Coast branch of the NZ Camellia Society to celebrate the National Camellia Show that was held in Gisborne in August. Present for the planting were (the Organising Committee for the recently held Camellia Show): Malcolm Manuel (standing left), Graham Kinge (Secretary), Julie Hindmarsh, Kerry Smith and Pat Seymour. With Ian Flockhart (kneeling left), Gisborne's Mayor John Clarke, Jock Hindmarsh, Pat Flockhart (Treasurer) and Margaret Manuel (President) The Camellias were chosen for their name, Spring Festival, a hybrid which will mature into a medium sized cylindrical tree with miniature pink flowers.
