EAST COAST v POVERTY BAY

The clash of the cream of local rugby met at the Tolaga Bay Domain in front of a big crowd who were not disappointed with the struggle they witnessed. The Bay took an early lead and led 10-5 at halftime. The Coast were fired up for the 2nd half and brought the score to within 1 point of the Bay With only minutes to the end the Bay slotted a penalty to win 21-17.

The East Coast bench with most eyes riveted to the action however we notice "Sherlock" Heikell having a chat to East Coast Rugby's Cath McLean.

The Tui East Coast Team Management of Joe McClutchie (Assistant Coach), Richard Katipa (Captain), Murray Henare (Assistant Manager & Mopey Devery (Coach) who steered the Coast to their 1st International win against the Cook Islands a week later.
