SISTER CITIES

An International Sister Cities Conference took place in Gisborne beginning with an official welcome at the Sandown. Later a Flag Raising ceremony & seminar (the theme being "a celebration of youth") was held at the Lawson Field Theatre followed by a superb dinner at the Gisborne Hotel. It was noted that "the future of Sister Cities is in the hands of our youth" & that there are "lessons that the world can learn from the common purpose that different cultures can bring" with many delegates being "honoured to be in this very special place."

The Ritana Culture Club represented the Youth of Gisborne at the welcome held at the Sandown Entertainment Centre.

The Flag Ceremony, a presentation of flags by Sea, Army & Air Training Cadets with flags from Australia, China, UK, USA, Israel, Japan and NZ." We are one."

Gisborne Town Crier John Kibble & his Consort Margaret called for the beginning of the seminar.
