Ronald McDonald was in town to meet the winners of the Gisborne Herald / McDonald's Family Restaurant Young Writers of the Month and to congratulate Joanna Cringle, the overall winner for 1994.

Canada) were at Gisborne Intermediate to see their granddaughter, Gabrielle, receive her certificate from the University of NSW for her being the top NZ student who sat their English exam.
