SIMPLY THE BEST

It is difficult to find the right words to describe the Gisborne Boys' High School 1st XVs 1994 season. They played their first game on February 9th and finished on September 18th having swept all before them in the 15 aside game. Arguably one of the greatest NZ schoolboy rugby teams ever, the trophy cupboard at Boys' High must be overflowing thanks to the dedication and hard work put in by this talented group, their coach Kim Harris, assistant coach Garry Thompson and manager Steve Williams. They are the world secondary school champions and they hold the "Ranfurly Shield" of NZ secondary school rugby, the Moascar Cup. They are national and Australian secondary school sevens champions and winners of the Top Four trophy for secondary schools in NZ. The Photo News has featured the team in many issues and on our July cover. We salute them and all associated with their achievements, particularly the parents and supporters, in these 4 pages of photos from the final emotional game of this top team.
