An army officer who is well known on the Coast has been posted to serve in Bosnia. Warrant Officer Doug Walker was one of the advanced party that set up the N Z Army Head Quarters at Split on the coast of the Adriatic Sea. The troops stationed in Bosnia will be under his command for the next 6 months. Doug was the officer in command of the army troops present at the recent Ngarimu V C ceremony held in Ruatoria. Educated at Whakaangianga, Gisborne Intermediate & Gisborne Boy's High School, he was the youngest Sergeant Major in the N Z Army at the age of 24. Warrant Officer Doug Walker is the grandson of Lena and the late George Walker.
