GISBORNE BHS ST. STEPHENS

A huge crowd watched a spectacular game or rugby when GBHS took on old foes St. Stephens with Boys High's reputation and the Moascar Cup at stake. The Cup is unique and often referred to as the Ranfurly Shield of secondary school rugby. Moascar is Arabic for camp and the cup was won by the NZ Mounted Rifle Brigade in Egypt shortly after the end of World War 1. This is the 3rd time GBHS have held the cup (previously 1980 & 1983) and they retained it with a 35-16 victory
