A. T. C. PARADE

Air Training Corps was formed in 1941 to provide training for school age children to foster discipline, team work and an appreciation of the role of the armed forces. Today ATC is a part of the NZ Cadet Force which also includes Sea Cadets & School Cadets.

Melanie Home was presented with her Pilot Officer's Braids by Gisborne's Mayor John Clarke. Melanie Joined ATC when she was 13 in 1987 & worked her way from Probationary Cadet through the ranks to Pilot Officer.

Inspecting the ranks at a parade were Kevin Farrington (left) Air New Zealand's Business Development Executive from Hawkes Bay, Warren Hibbert General Manger Weddell Kaiti, Bryan Home President Turanga Lions and Flight Lieutenant Janet Steele. At the parade in the Army Hall the Unit took the opportunity to thank Air NZ for the donation of aviation gas & Weddel for providing meat for a weekend flying instruction camp held at Whatatutu.
