Sixth formers at Wairoa College Matthew Murphy (Left) and Robert Pene are dedicated basketballers who trialed and made the Napier Under 16 side. Their team competed in the North Island U 16 tournament in Hawera coming a creditable 2nd.

Travelling to Napier every Wednesday and Sunday to practice has not deterred Jerry Pomare who was runner-up in the Under 16 North Island Badminton Championships in Palmerston North.

Mrs. Goldsmith's 5th form Maori group won the Atawhaitia (School) Competition and took part in the Tamararo Festival in Gisborne where they won the Sinclair Trophy for Moteatea.
