30 SQUADRON REUNION

18 of these Gruman Avenger fighter bombers were based in Gisborne in 1942 before the 30th Squadron moved to fight in the Pacific Theatre during the 2nd World War. Pilots, ground crew and buddies from similar squadrons gathered in Gisborne for their 50th (since formation) Reunion. C.O. Noel James, Gerry Burton, Don Fyfe and Peter Steel were the only pilots to attend in 1993.
