Christmas Operetta

Ideal family entertainment for Christmas will be on stage at Unity Theatre from December 14 to 21. This will be Benjamin Britten's delightful operetta "The Little Sweep." Produced by Pamela Strange, with David Vine as musical director and conductor, the show should be assured of success.

Clem (Roger Fleury, left), tells Miss Baggot (Leonie Small) that "chimbley sweepers must 'ave boys, same as poachers must 'ave ferrets" as he ropes up Sam, The Little Sweep (Andrew Meredith).

×

Rowan (Carolyn Arapeta) expresses sympathy for the little sweep as the time comes for him to be sent up his first chimney.

×

Sam gets stuck in the chimney and the children combine to pull him out. From left, Yvonne Boeyen, Peter Thorpe, Alison Pollard, Jeremy McLoughlin, Nancy Cameron and Damian Arahill.

×

The children, (hoping to save Sam), show Rowan how they have hidden him in their toybox.

Juliet (Camilla Sutton) pretends to faint, thus preventing Miss Baggot from discovering Sam's hiding place.
