Miss Nancy Baigent, daughter of Mr and Mrs R. P. Baigent, of Fox Street, receiving her degree in horticulture at the Massey College capping ceremony from Dr. G. A. Currie, vice-chancellor of the University of New Zealand. Miss Baigent is the first woman student in New Zealand to win a degree in horticulture, and possibly the first in the southern hemisphere.

Mr P. J. Quinn, eldest son of Mrs Quinn, Stafford Street, and the late Mr J. R. Quinn who has completed his examinations for the degree of Bachelor of Laws. He was admitted to the bar recently in Wellington by Mr Justice Gresson.

Mr W. Hudson, town clerk at Pukekohe, who has been appointed town clerk of Gisborne. Mr Hudson, who was appointed recently from a number of applicants, and will take up his new duties as from June 20.

Mr and Mrs J. T. Laskey, Disraeli Street, who celebrated their golden wedding this month. They were married in Oxford, Canterbury, in 1906, and came to live in Gisborne in 1920. Mrs Laskey was formerly Miss E. M. Ivory, of Oxford. Kandid
