Long Service Rewarded

Prestige Trophy to Riverside

The prestige trophy for competition between lady bowlers, the Bob Watt Rose Bowl, was won this year by a team from Riverside.

Two members of the Gisborne Athletic Club were awarded pocket badges recently for long and devoted service to the club. They were Messrs Norman Lee and Trevor Mills. Mr Lee has been announcer for the club for nigh on 40 years, while Mr Mills has encouraged young people to be true sportsmen in the club. From left, Mr Stan Parker (life member), who presented Mr Lee with his badge, Mr Lee, Mr Mills, and club president Graham Thomas, who presented Mr Mills with his badge.

With the handsome trophy the team is, from left, Mesdames Cath Powell (skip), Jess Boyle (3), Doreen Livingstone (2) and Merle Cameron (lead).

Runner-up was a team from Kaiti and the members are, from left, Mesdames Kath Richards (skip), Mary Webb (3), Rhona Carey (2) and Cherry Harris (lead).
