Guest speaker at a luncheon organised by the Women's Section of the National Party, at the D.B. Gisborne Hotel, was the Minister of Finance and Deputy Prime Minister Mr Muldoon. There was a large attendance, Mr Muldoon was met at the airport by M. P. Esme Tornble-son (left), Mrs Lorna Lopdell, president of the women's section, and Mr: Jack Howard, chairman Gisborne National Party.

Mayor Harry Barker was awarded the C.B.E. by the Queen in her Birthday Honours List. A driving force in city affairs, the Mayor (of 21 years' standing) was also awarded the O.B.E. in 1964.

Mr Walton Goldsmith has been admitted to the New Zealand Society of Accountants. He is with McCullough, Butler and Spence, and prior to the past two years spent in Wairoa, worked for the firm in Tokomaru Bay and Hastings. He is the son of Mrs Goldsmith, 177 Roebuck Road, and the late Mr W. Goldsmith.

After 52 years in the watchmaking business, Mr Eric Brown has repaired his last Watch as he retired at the end of May and is seen here on his last day in his Peel Street shop. He (left) is pictured with the new owner of the business, Mr Gordon Button, who has already been a watchmaker for 10 years.

Conducting the Gisborne section of a national rugby quiz is Radio Gisborne's sporting broadcaster Bernie Brown (left). Three well-known rugby personalities, Tiny White, Norm Lee and Johnny Collins, were the adjudicators.
