Spectacular Parade

A spectacular parade of hairstyles and costumes was the highlight of this year's P.B. Ladies' Master Hairdressers' annual ball held in the Archery Club Hall. All the styles were created by Auckland's Schwarzkopf International representative Philip Ellis and featured a wide variety of style, colour and costume.

One of the most opulent creations styled by Mr Ellis was this design called "Sun Goddess." It was paraded by Vernie Eriksen and featured orange and yellow drapings, with the hair in vibrant shades depicting the rising sun.

Wearing electrifying silver makeup, Carol Hacche's black and silver hairstyle was offset with silver bangles hanging on tiny plaits.

Really futuristic was Geraldine Martell's "Thunderball," the hair being wire plaited, with sparkling silver balls attached to the end of each plait.

Liz Barns-Graham's spectacular creation was entitled "Bride in the Year 2000."

Paraded to "Tales From the Vienna Woods," Liesje Bartie's style was called "Butterfly."

Louise Samuels paraded "Year 2000," another futuristic creation.

Sheryl McFarlane's "Gemini Ride" was based on the Gordon's Gin cocktail recipe. Her hairstyle and bikini costume incorporated Gemini Ride coasters and advertising material.

Trudi Hunter paraded to the theme song from the recently released Academy Award movie "Shaft".

Escorted by four bearers and carried by them on a silk covered litter was Vicki Olsen as "Cleopatra". The bearers, also dressed in authentic costume, are Ron Brooker, Kit Bartie, Alistair Lyle and Garth Padman.
