Forty Thousand Dollar Fire

Damage to the tune of forty thousand dollars is estimated in the fire which swept through the J. T. Hill joinery factory and timber mill at Makaraka. The fire broke out just after 8 p.m. on January 29, but was brought under control by 9.30 p.m. Machinery, stores, vehicles and timber were all destroyed or badly damaged.
