High Standard

The standard of work entered by competitors in the Gisborne district section of the Wool Craft Competitions, sponsored by the New Zealand Wool Board, was extremely high. The judges had a difficult time sorting out the winners in both sections of the event which was for members of the W.D.F.F. and the C.W.I.

Mr G. A. Shanks, president of the Federated Farmers had the unusual task of presenting his own wife with the first prize for the open dress section. Second in the section was Mrs J. Hegarty (right).

Mrs E. Dudley took second place in the knitting section with this well made jumper.

Mrs J. Templer, Tahunga, entered a smart outfit on which the wooden buttons were made from macrocarpa by her husband.

Mrs R. C. Parker with Mesdames G. H. Stewart, H. W. Groome and H. Wheatley who were the judges of the garments and knitting.
