Ringatu Church Celebrations

The highlighting of the recent Ringatu -Rau-Tau celebrations was the ceremonial visit of the Governor General, Sir Arthur Porritt, and Lady Porritt. The church centenary celebrations were held at Muriwai and the visit was the culmination of the four days' celebrations.

After Mr Ngakohu Pera made the concluding speech, Mrs Kiri Kahaki led the final chant.

Mrs Tarete Moko (Waimana), Mrs Uru Tihi (Ruatoki) and Mrs Hineira Raimoana (Te Teko) were the three women who led the Pohiri (a posture dance at the start of the proceedings).
