Jaycee Fund Drive

The Jaycees organised a fund raising drive on July 7 prior to the decimal currency change-over when members of the community were exhorted to help community projects by donating ther old coppers and unwanted coin. A $10.00 prize was offered to the person with nearest guess to the amount of money the collecting chest held.

Dorothy Walters, Australia's Miss Dollar at the Hawkes Bay and Gisborne Savings Bank, helped out with the project by filling the chest and counting the coins.
