Introducing . . . Introducing

This month we introduce a new feature and if you aren't sure yet what its called, it's "Introducing".

People are the world's most interesting phenomena.

No two people are alike (even if they are identical twins). They are different in shape and size, likes and dislikes, and outlook on life.

However, they all have one thing in common: the desire to like and be liked, and to be friends and friendly....if you let them.

Dean Martin had something of the idea in the opening song of his show, even if he doesn't sing it as well as he should.

So let us introduce you to five friendly people for a start......

The man behind the saw is Jim Devenport, who lives with his wife down on the beach front in Salisbury Road. His three daughters are married. A builder by trade, Jim was responsible for the construction of the printing and processing departments Of our new premises in Derby Street. He is a foundation and committee member of the Car Club, served on the Road Safety Committee for three years, and is a member of the transport section of Civil Police.

This is Hal Andrew who lives with his wife and four children in Kaiti. Hal is the china buyer for Adairs, but on Saturday mornings his is the voice you hear over the radio telling you how to plant your kumeras and when to pick your zinnias.

×

Meet Frank Zame, proprietor of the Gosford Fish Shop, who lives with his wife and three children in Centennial Crescent. Among Frank's spare time ("What spare time?") pastimes is (you guessed it) fishing, on a strictly non-commercial basis.

×

This is Diane Gane who is receptionist at 2XG. Hers is the friendly voice which answers your queries, or she is the girl who will put you through to the right department. Diane's hobbies are walking and swimming.

Angeline Montaperto's dark good looks used to confront you when you called at the Silver Fern Dairy in Derby Street for a milk shake......now she's shaking the milk at the Ideal Dairy in Wainui Road. Her spare-time interests include knitting, swimming and pop records.
