Harvesting The Seed Crop

Out Ormond way we found Barry Pollard hard at work harvesting a seed crop of rye grass and clover while the weather held.

The grass, cut four days previously, is gathered up in the monster combine harvester, broken up at high speed in the thresher, goes through a series of sieves (where the seed is sorted from the chaff), then bagged up.

Final dressing and certification is done at Dalgety & N.Z. Loan's grain store in this machine dresser.

Sacks of seed by the thousand in the store.
