Eighteen-year-old Lawrence Rau, son of Mr and Mrs C. Rau of Opotiki, was fourth in the Golden Shears final held at Masterton recently.
The Rau family is leaving Opotiki and is going sheep farming in the Tolaga Bay district.
During the day Jennifer gained three first placings, three seconds and two thirds, qualifying her for the highest points cun under 17 years.

Measuring 9 inches in diameter, this perfect mushroom specimen was found on the Valley Road property of Mr J. Hofman. The finders were 'Sproggy' Spencer, Stout Street, and Paul Hofman.

Riding her sister's horse, "Tammy", she gained first place in the Open Pony F.E.I. and was third equal with herself in the same event on her two ponies "Paint" and "Kokotari".
