26 children from the Otoko school recently paid a one-day visit to Gisborne with their teacher, Mr R. Booth, and a number of parents. One of their many visits was to Poho-a-Rawiri meeting house, where they were given a guided tour and instruction of Maori culture and games by Mrs H. K. Ngata. The party is pictured in front of the meeting house, with Mrs Ngata and Mr and Mrs Booth at left rear.

Miss F. Suepule, of Western Samoa, who is spending six months in New Zealand working in libraries under the Colombo Plan, recently spent three weeks at the Gisborne public Library. During her stay, Miss Suepule was the guest of Mr and Mrs A. Smith, 298 Aberdeen Road.

A successful fisherman is Mr Hubert Hovell of Te Araroa, who recently netted more than 300 kahawai in one haul in the Awatere River, Te Araroa. He is pictured with some of his catch. (picture by Captain S. A. Medland).
